Top 3 Takeaways

  1. The Airline/Airport industry in Chile has taken major hits due to Coronavirus and social unrest, with most airports only operating at 10% of previous capacity. However, the Chilean government expect the industry to quickly bounce back with goals to reach 50% of previous capacity by the end of this year, and total recovery within a couple years.
  2. Chilean Government plans use a concession system in their strategy to to renovate and expand their airports infrustructure. This provides opportunities for public and private partnships in both technical, planning, and the technology required to make this plan happen. More importantly, domestic and foreign companies can take part in the bid of these projects. This provides opportunity for U.S., Chinese, and European firms to compete.
  3. The U.S and Chilean government will support companies who wish to do business in Chile. Thie $1.5 billion investment scheme is led by the ministry of public works to equip 15 airports to offer international operations. Chile sees this as an opening to the world.
